Borstar Bay 3

Bayport Polymers LLC, a joint venture of TotalEnergies Petrochemicals & Refining USA, Inc., Borealis AG, and NOVA Chemicals Inc., is set to begin operation of its Borstar Bay 3 unit in mid 2022. The new 625,000-ton-per-year polyethylene unit will more than double polyethylene capacity at the company’s Bayport, Texas site. In total, the unit will comprise 27 modules that are being built in the McDermott International, Inc. Prefabrication and Assembly Yard, in Altamira, Tamaulipas (Mexico). For the unit’s fireproofing and thermal insulation needs, ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation will deliver mandrel-wrapped ProRox PS 960 pipe sections with WR-Tech and ProRox MA 960 matting—providing firesafe insulation with exceptional water repellency against corrosion under insulation (CUI).
