Ferries for Andaman & Nicobar Island Administration

Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) has commenced the construction of two 500 Pax-cum-150 Ton cargo vessels for the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.

These are the first two ships being built for the A&N Island Administration, each with a capacity of 500 passengers-cum-150 tonnes cargo. CSL has also been awarded contracts for two vessels with a capacity of 1,200 passengers-cum-1,000 tonnes of cargo for the A&N Island Administration, which are under construction. The contracts were awarded as part of the Government’s ‘Make-in-India’ initiative.

The vessels are designed and built as modern passenger vessels for inter-island services in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and for occasional mainland transfer.

ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation is supplying SeaRox Lightweight FB 6000 A60 fire rated insulation for the ferries. The use of the SeaRox lightweight insulation will allow the ferries to carry more cargo and lead to fuel savings.
